Bethanie Mitchell is an American documentary photographer, photojournalist, multimedia producer, accidental artist and experienced photographic educator currently based in Seattle, Washington. She attended both Seattle University as well as Syracuse University where her studies focused on photography, journalism, and international development. She works on projects and assignments while also teaching workshops and classes at colleges in Seattle, Washington.
Her long form work has focused on a photographic history of Myanmar (Burma) from its time under the dictatorship into its opening. Most recently she has documented stories about the migration out of war torn Syria, the current conflict in Iraq, and contemporary issues in her home of Seattle, Washington. Her work has appeared in print and online publications. She is available for assignments globally.
